Industrial Technical Sales Engineer

We are looking to employ a new Industrial Technical Sales Engineer covering the central part of the UK and working from home with full support from Pulsar. This role is ideal for a candidate starting their career in technical sales.

Candidate qualities

We are looking for an individual with a strong independent work ethic with enthusiasm to learn about our technology, develop our customer base and provide high quality customer support. An ability to listen and provide solutions once full training has been provided is important.

Industrial Technical Sales Engineer role includes:

  • Maintaining the excellent level of business we currently enjoy, whilst working to increase the level of business within the area.
  • Contacting existing customers to keep them abreast of new product developments, new application opportunities, and to find out what new potential they may have for Pulsar products.
  • Proactively contacting potential new customers and arranging visits to discuss and demonstrate Pulsar products.
  • Arranging and carrying out product training sessions with customers.
  • Providing initial technical back-up to customers where appropriate, and arranging full service support from Head Office where necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate customer contact records, as part of the company’s database on existing and potential business in the area.
  • Feeding back competitors’ activities and product innovations in our area of business interest.
  • Attending regional exhibitions to promote Pulsar and our family of products.
  • Visiting the UK Head Offices on a regular basis, attending sales meetings etc., to receive product training and to play a key role in the future strategies in the geographic area.
  • Identifying applications in the area, which are novel, or currently not sufficiently addressed by existing instruments to help Pulsar exploit early market opportunities.

Location: Position is based within the West Midlands covering a 150mile radius from your location – candidates should be already based within this region or willing to relocate.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Required qualifications/experience: Qualified to HNC/HND or equivalent. Previous Technical Sales experience is desirable but not essential. We are looking for an individual who can show a hard-working ethic, ability to work independently and IT literate (such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and database entry programmes). We are looking for individuals with the potential to grow and develop with our company.

Required licence or certification: Full drivers licence

Full product and sales training will be provided at Pulsar’s Offices in Malvern, initially and periodically as required. Support in the area will be provided by the Director of Sales and Marketing, UK Sales Manager and Regional Sales Managers.

Region: Central US (Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, & Wisconsin)

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is looking for a great opportunity to develop swiftly into the Regional Sales Manager role. A high level of support and training will be given to development of the chosen candidate into this RSM role, and to get an in depth understanding of our technologies and product offerings. It will be home based position, with expectations of 50% travel. Some prior instrumentation and/or sales experience is preferred. Experience in the WWW and IND markets is a plus.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong communication skills, especially the ability to listen to customer's needs and develop and offer solutions in a direct manner.
  • Customer focused mindset with the ability to respond quickly to customer needs with a proactive, results oriented approach.
  • Must have strong ability to self-initiate tasks and set goals
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and typing skills.
  • A positive attitude with a desire to learn.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and make responsible decisions, with high accountability.
  • Ability to evaluate workload and act with urgency to promptly manage top priorities.
  • Technically inclined
  • Familiarity within the WWW and IND markets is preferred, but not required.

REGIONAL SALES MANAGER ROLL/DUTIES

The successful candidates key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage, provide leadership, and build relationships with Local Representatives in the Central United States area (IL, OH, IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, SD, & WI).
  • Ensure representatives receive ongoing product training, and product updates.
  • Recruit new representatives in vacant and underperforming areas.
  • Accompany representatives on client visits.
  • Presenting the companies technologies to a wide audience, ranging from end users, up to engineers and senior management-level.
  • Work with representatives to identify and secure market share in new and emerging markets.
  • Proactively set financial goals, sales targets and objectives for each area.
  • Provide technical product support, both onsite and via satellite connection to representatives and end users.
  • Attending regional exhibitions to promote our family of products.
  • This position requires approximately 50% travel, as needed.

Full product and sales training will be provided, as required. Support in the area will be provided by National Sales Manager and other Regional Sales Managers. Expenses will be reimbursed for all business activities, and business tools will be provided.
