Pulsarguard 2010 - Acoustic monitoring for solid flows

The Pulsarguard 2010 series products are non-invasive ultrasonic sensors designed to detect process change by listening to the variations in ultrasonic activity produced. Typical applications include the monitoring of solids flow such as grain or animal feed through a mill, where a blockage would cause a significant problem. Other applications include vehicle fill where pipework may be monitored. The 2010 is very good at ignoring ambient noise or vibration and only giving a signal if the process flow changes.

The operating principle of the Pulsarguard 2010: the product contains a piezo ceramic crystal that gives an electrical output depending on the minute vibrations caused by ultrasonic activity. A sensitive amplifier increases the signal from the crystal element and this is then enveloped to give a smoothed version of the high frequency signal. The output is a varying voltage ( 0 to 10V ) with a time constant of 100uS.
