Advanced Pump Control with Quantum - 19 July 2010

Optimising Pump Systems

Following an approach from a major customer within the Waste Water sector, Pulsar Process Measurement have developed a new pump station control device based on proven non-contacting ultrasonic measurement techniques. The new unit, named Quantum, features a control set that meets the needs of an organisation controlling multi-pump installations over a wide geographical area, minimising the number of visits by maintenance staff and automating certain functions. This paper is based on the installation of around 200 Quantum units.  read more ...
Wet Well Cleaning Cycle - 17 February 2010

Swansea Deep Well

Summary

Swansea STWThe reliability and versatility of the advanced echo processing technology in Pulsars non-contact ultrasonic range has been utilised at the Swansea Waste Water Treatment Works, in a 23m deep application where other manufacturers had failed to provide a reliable low level signal. In order to minimise problems, such as pump clogging, resulting from solids accumulations, a wet well cleaning cycle routine was designed into the pump cycle, requiring low level control below the pump heads. The Pulsar Ultra 3 and dB40 transducer now provide continuous and reliable low level measurement allowing the above routine to be included in the normal pump cycle. read more ...
Derby Sewage Treatment Works - 16 February 2010

Echo confidence for Severn Trent at Derby STW

Derby sewage treatment works pump and transducer Summary
Pulsar Process Measurement supplied non-contacting ultrasonic level measurement equipment into the main transfer pumping station at Severn Trent Derby STW, in an application where other manufacturers had failed to provide a reliable signal. The arrangement of the site and surrounding land makes an overflow unacceptable. The maintenance on float switches was an unpleasant chore for site staff, with heavy ragging of floats and false alarm signals produced. A non-contacting solution was imperative. The Pulsar Ultra 3 level controller coupled with dB15 transducer is now providing reliable measurement, so much so that with the exception of ultimate high level alarms, the float switches are being removed. read more ...
